20 Things I Did Before 20

Hey guys! I know it has been awhile, but I am back and (hopefully) ready to get into a routine and start posting regularly. I just turned 20 last week and decided it would be fun to share 20 things I did before turning 20! Oh, and there isn't a particular order to these things...I may have been bored during lecture..

1. Played travel softball. I committed eight glorious years of my childhood to swinging a bat and running around in right field. It was cool, and sometimes I miss it.

2. Joined 4H. 4H is a pretty well-known organization and it definitely left a huge impact on me.

3. Showed beef cattle. This may have been the most influential thing I did growing up. It redirected my career path and introduced me to the great big world of ag.

4. Worked at a vet clinic. Okay, I was pretty set on becoming a veterinarian for quite some time, so there's that, but it's also just a cool thing to tell people.

5. Learned to play the trumpet. Yup, I'm one of those.

6. Became a drum major my senior year. Yup, I was one of those too. And loved it.

7. Met my best friend. High school is not that terrible, people. Look around, your peers are kinda neat.

8. Went to a bunch of concerts. Do you know who Alice Cooper is? I did when I was five.

9. Started a YouTube channel. It's fun to try new things. You never know where it will go!

10. Traveled outside of the United States. I am very ready to go back to Europe. Amaze-balls.

11. Fell in and out of love. It's just a normal part of growing up.

12. Got involved in a ton of things. Band, clubs, sports. It will follow me forever. I live to be outrageously busy and involved. Someone has to buy planners and pens, right?

13. Survived an internship. Scouting fields ain't easy.

14. Learned what rejection feels like. Everyone has to fall down sometimes. Doesn't mean you can't get right back up and try again.

15. Went to yoga classes. I'm no yogi, but I definitely enjoy yoga.

16. Tried sushi. It is actually super good.

17. Found my calling (I think?). I never thought I'd be an ag comm major who plans to write a book and talk about cows every day.

18. Saw my favorite band in concert...in the general admission section. Best Christmas present ever. Good luck topping that one, Jake. Fine, the new tradition is to see Mumford & Sons every time they come to town.

19. Began to realize how important my mother is. I guess I really am out of the teenage years, huh?

20. Survived my first year of college. And I can't wait to see what the rest holds. Hopefully good GPAs and plenty of pictures.

Well, there you have it. Take some time to reflect on what awesome things you have achieved thus far in your own lives. It can be as simple as learning to ride a bike or insane as going skydiving. Sometimes you just have to take a moment to realize how exciting life truly is.

What's the coolest thing you've done in your lifetime? Let me know in the comments below!

    1. 4H is a youth organization that focuses on service, leadership and creativity! You participate in events and complete projects throughout the year. Usually you compete at your county fair. Maybe that should be a future blog post! :)
