Hello Hilton Head Island!

After an entire night of traveling, we have arrived in South Carolina! Sandy beaches, waterfronts, humid weather and lots of bicycles. Hello Hilton Head Island!

We embarked on our journey Friday night to arrive early Saturday morning. We made a few pit stops along the way and I drove through curvy mountain interstates for the first time. After that, I gladly slept in the passenger seat until we stopped again for breakfast. We were basking in the South Carolina sun by 10:30 a.m. (yeah, I already have a gloriously red glow on my back and shoulders) and enjoying the ocean breeze. Vacation at last!

Our condo was available at 4 p.m., and I was very happy to finally get settled in. (You can watch the vlog here) I unpacked my bags and pretty much made myself at home. It was even better to wash off the travel and sand before making a quick sandwich for dinner.

Sunday was a morning full of grocery shopping and an afternoon of being a beach bum. I spent a lot of time "swimming" in the ocean and earning a rather annoying sunburn. I am not lucky enough to lay out and get a tan; I'm more of the Cullen vampire type, who sparkles in the sun because they are so pale. I know I'm not the only one out there with this problem!

I kicked Monday morning off with a very colorful breakfast: vanilla yogurt with strawberries, bananas, blackberries and a small glass of chocolate milk.

The rest of the day was spent shopping throughout Hilton Head Island. I made a few purchases and even splurged quite a bit (don't worry, everything will be featured in a blog post soon!) Something about shopping on vacation and near a body of water is so peaceful. And makes it very easy to buy lots of things! I'd say that mom and I both enjoyed our shopping trips, but there is plenty of moseying store to store left to do.

Today, Tuesday, was a slow day, but we tried to do a little more shopping. We didn't have much luck this time around. There was a heat advisory and we got tired of the outlet mall pretty fast. So instead, we found a cute little ice cream shop where we could cool off and enjoy two scoops of ice cream and a Coke.

After cooking dinner, I met up with my boyfriend and some of his family members to play mini-golf (they're staying in Hilton Head too, it's a long story.) I have never been very good at putt-putt, but it was still a lot of fun. Somehow I managed to trip over the turf and we all had a good laugh. I am always the clumsy one in the group!

It has been a great start to our summer vacation and I can't wait to share more of my adventures!
